The Werx > Homeport Demolition

The Homeport, a 35-acre U.S. Naval Base in Staten Island, was decommissioned in 1993. In 2012, demolition began on the complex to pave the way for a new, mixed-use residential community, named, "URBY", in accordance with the community-driven New Stapleton Waterfront Development Plan.

Ironstate Development is in the process of transforming the 7 acre site into sustainable rental housing units and retail stores. The first phase of the development activates and reconnects an underutilized waterfront through new housing opportunities, retail and improvements in public infrastructure.

Also, a new waterfront esplanade for the historic Stapleton community and all of Staten Island will be built.
